A GIANT ceilidh for 300 primary school children in the King Alfred Hall at Winchester Guildhall. The children have been learning the music and dances with the help of their teachers in preparation for this extravaganza.

Hot Club jazz and gypsy swing
Enjoying the recent revival of interest in hot club jazz and gypsy swing, a style brought to the fore by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli in the bars and cafes of Paris in the 1930s, Louche Manouche combine guitars, clarinet, double bass and vocals in an upbeat ensemble that will get you dancing and make you smile.

Featuring "The Axford Five"
A concert featuring singing from the Winchester Community Choir followed by the Askew Sisters and Craig Morgan Robson, presenting "The Axford Five": traditional Hampshire folk songs. All the songs are taken from the repertoires of five women who all lived in or near the village of Axford, near Basingstoke and were collected by George Gardiner between 1905 and 1909.

A multi-instrumental band that plays real Irish and Celtic music plus a smattering of Breton and Eastern European. Heard regularly at the Black Boy, their Friday night Mayfest session at the Eclipse has proved unmissable.
8pm Eclipse
Admission free
An earthy, modern blues band in which the funkiest musicians from the parallel worlds of blues, jazz and rock return to their roots. "This band is guaranteed to get you rocking in the aisles and reach the parts that others just can’t reach … so go see!"
9pm Bishop on the Bridge
Admission free
Playing a mix of thirties country blues, murder ballads and a few dodgy cowboy songs and covering the likes of Leadbelly, Johnny Cash, Nick Cave and Tom Waits, along with originals penned by Brian Hayward.
9pm Slug and Lettuce
Admission free
Authentic piano accordion entertainment featuring Parisian tangos, pasadobles, sambas and lambadas, Bulgarian dances and some familiar Latin favourites.
9pm El Sabio
Admission free
A Winchester based singer songwriter with an accomplished range of songs and strong delivery.
